Have a voice in your learning experience!
Fully Booked
3-4 November 2010
Manchester Conference Centre
Aims of the event
UKCLE launched its National Law Student Forum initiative with a pilot 36 hour event for nominated law student representatives.
Reports on the event are now available in the student section.
The event aimed to:
- demonstrate how students can actively develop their contribution to the learning process
- increase the students’ skills base, e.g. from note taking in meetings and preparing reports to committees to communication and negotiation skills
- set up a network for law students
- increase the students awareness of approaches to learning & teaching
Sessions
Facilitated sessions sought to:
- improve the way students take part in the Staff Student Consultative procedure
- enhance student skills when communicating or negotiating with staff and other students
- ensure that the student cohort and their views are effectively represented
- demonstrate how students can present constructive criticism with evidence rather than a series of complaints
- show students how to make the best use of feedback and how this is important in the teaching and learning strategy
The sharing of practice and experience was a key component, and in general the students moulded to the format of the event. Participating students are expected to report what they have learned to their home institution and UKCLE will be evaluating and disseminating the process.
